On the eve before they are shipped out to fight in the Vietnam War, a platoon of young marines engage in their traditional ‘Dogfight’: a simple game with cruel rules. Each Marine puts $50 in the pot - the one who brings the ugliest date to the party wins the money.
Eddie Birdlace, a careless and lost marine, and his two best friends, the inexperienced Bernstein and the crude Boland, dive head-first into the barbaric game, unaware of how the game would change their lives forever.
Rose Fenny, an isolated dreamer stuck as a diner waitress, and Marcy, a brash prostitute, become embroiled in this whirlwind of a night, which would force them to confront hard truths about the lives they lead.
With music written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (the award-winning composers of Dear Evan Hansen and La La Land), Dogfight is a funny, poignant, and important musical, that whilst focusing on the morality and impact of such a cruel game, comments upon the arrogant age of American Innocence that was ended by the Vietnam War.
